Hometown: Washington
Sally grew up skiing at Alpental in Washington State, and patrolled there for several years in the mid to late 1980s. Then life got in the way and other things took over her time for many years. Patrol days were never far from her mind though, and Sally missed who she had been when she was patrolling. So, the year she turned 50 Sally decided to see if she could still do it. And she did, joining the White Pass Ski Patrol. In addition to that, Sally is also a leader for Ski Flight, which gives her the opportunity to take a group of patrollers every year to some of the greatest resorts across Europe. One day while scrolling on Instagram, Sally came across her first Women of Patrol post. Instantly intrigued by seeing women patrollers across the US posting their amazing photos, she reached out to Kari Brandt, the founder of Women of Patrol. What excites Sally most about Women of Patrol is it demonstrates the strength and power of women and community. Even if there is a sole woman patroller at a mountain, she can know she has a whole community of women patrollers supporting her. Women can achieve anything they set their minds to, and the opportunities are endless if you refuse to believe you can’t do something. Women of Patrol inspires women to believe in themselves. There are young women out there who want to be in the fresh air and pushing their limits – they’re going to find WoP and know they have options to be able to do so. Women of Patrol is dedicated to growing female involvement in the snowsports industry, and is setting the example for current and future generations. Women helping women.
