Kari began her patrol career at the young age of 4 years old when she began skiing around her Godparent’s ski hill with a 101 Dalmatians fanny pack filled with bandaids. Kari’s parents were the volunteer ski patrollers at the ski hill and she was eager to help them. It wasn’t until 2012 that Kari became a paid ski patroller with actual certifications and the skillset necessary. She started her third season of patrol as the Patrol Director, on-hill Risk Manager, Security Manager and Terrain Park Manager at Snow Valley in Southern California. Holding those roles for 3 season, she learned a lot in a short period of time. Kari pivoted to a Risk Manager role at an Adventure Theme Park, which is when the idea for Women of Patrol was born. Starting as an instagram account in the spring of 2018. Kari moved to the Tahoe area in 2019 to become the Ski Patrol Director and Safety Coordinator at Diamond Peak in Incline Village, NV. This continues to be her current job. In 2020, Kari and the rest of the board of Women of Patrol started the process to become a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The organization continues to expand it’s programs and has a greater impact on female patrollers with each passing year. When Kari is not consumed with work and Women of Patrol she enjoys running, backpacking with her husband and 3 dogs, enjoying life in the Sierra Nevada and dabbling in the other stereotypical mountain town activities.
